This summer, AWHP was busy at work fighting to ensure equitable access to affordable prescription medications for people with chronic illnesses, maintaining funding for women’s healthcare programs, encouraging access to early cancer detection, and improving the issue of Black maternal health.

In June, AWHP focused on obesity, HPV cancer prevention, and laboratory testing access, advocating for holistic obesity approaches, endorsing HPV vaccine initiatives, and stressing the need to protect clinical laboratory services for better preventive healthcare.

In December 2024, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) issued new draft guidelines for cervical cancer screening. AWHP submitted a letter during the public comment period for consideration as the USPSTF finalizes the guidelines.
