Lyn Behnke, DNP, FNPBC
Dr. Lyn Behnke, a WomenHeart Champion, has a long and varied career as a primary care provider, a critical care nurse, family practice and psychiatric nurse practitioner, cardiovascular nurse practitioner, assistant professor, and researcher with over 50 publications and invited presentations in the past ten years. She is currently a Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Sterling Health Services, a FQHC in Northeast Michigan.
She also serves as a rural health equity consultant for Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, MI. Her research interests include women living with heart disease and heart failure, appropriate medical diagnosis of women with heart disease, and the development of a medical device designed to take the place of the dreaded speculum in women’s health.
Dr. Behnke attended WomenHeart’s Science & Leadership Symposium in 2010. As a WomenHeart Champion, she continues to provide community education in Northeast Michigan to help prevent heart disease in women, to support women in her community, and to advocate for policies that increase medical research dollars, as well as women’s participation in research trials, and support women with heart disease.
