In collaboration with a diverse coalition of leading organizations dedicated to women’s health, we passionately advocate for accessible, affordable, and equitable preventive care. In the early days of 2024, we want to extend deep gratitude to the multitude of partners who join us on this transformative journey.

The Alliance for Women’s Health & Prevention (AWHP) was established with a clear mission: to ensure that all women and girls have access to affordable, high-quality preventive healthcare services. To reflect on our first year raising awareness and advocating for better preventive healthcare for all women and girls in the U.S., we recently issued our first End of Year (EOY) Report.

The U.S. faces a vaccine equity gap leading to disparities in vaccination rates, highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. To sustain progress, clear and universal CDC guidance, simplified recommendations, and caution against creating additional barriers are crucial for ensuring equitable access to vaccines and protecting the health of all communities.

A new survey commissioned by Pfizer and conducted by Survey Healthcare Global reveals confusion about the meningococcal vaccines and their associated recommendations. Luckily, an additional option may be on the horizon in the form of a pentavalent vaccine. The survey findings are now available on the AWHP website.

AWHP urges House lawmakers to reject cuts that may hinder biomedical research and harm vulnerable populations, advocating for a budget bill that restores agency funding to current levels, preserves the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and prioritizes women’s and girls’ healthcare needs.

Betsy Huber, President of the National Grange, dedicates her career to enhancing rural life, with a growing focus on advocating for accessible healthcare. As an AWHP advisory council member, she emphasizes the importance of women’s preventive health, particularly in rural areas.

Dr. Elizabeth Garner, U.S. Chief Scientific Officer at Ferring Pharmaceuticals and President of AMWA, brings her global perspective to empower women in healthcare. She aims to encourage all AMWA physician-members to advocate for women’s health and foster partnerships to invest in preventive solutions.

All women and girls deserve the opportunity to live the healthiest life possible. As the first CEO of the AWHP, I am fully and faithfully committed to advancing policy that drives equitable access and prevents the burden and progression of disease, with the ultimate goal of improving the lives and health of all women and girls.
